\nSuch is one of the passages of Colin Thatcher’s chilling new murder mystery, \u201cIf I Did It\u201d.

\n\u201cMr. Thatcher is a really gifted writer,\u201d said the one-time MLA’s publicist, \u201cThe fictional story \u2013 and, let’s emphasize here that it is fictional \u2013 is a classic ‘who done it’ with a climax that you won’t believe.\u201d

\nThis is the debut novel for Thatcher, who once served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) under both the provincial Liberal and Progressive Conservative parties.\u00a0 If I Did It<\/em> has won some critical acclaim for it’s uncomfortably detailed portrayal of a psychopathic killer.
\n\u00a0
\n\u201cThat book almost made me shit my pants,\u201d said one book reviewer, \u201cI mean, the details Thatcher goes into in the novel are so unseemly.\u00a0 You really get to understand the mindset of the killer and become one with him.
\n\u00a0
\n\u201cIt’s almost like Thatcher is writing from experience.\u00a0 But, we all know better than that.\u201d

\nThe release of the novel did not come without its controversies, however.\u00a0 If I Did It<\/em> had come under scrutiny that Thatcher had hired some people to write the novel for him.\u00a0 People had pointed to the fact that, many times during it’s development, there was an orange Ford Mustang parked outside his home.\u00a0 A claim which Thatcher flatly denies.
\n\u00a0
\n\u201cMr. Thatcher insists that he, and he alone, wrote the book,\u201d said Thatcher’s publicist, \u201cI mean, common, who else would write such an impassioned murder mystery?\u00a0 Hired ghost writers?\u00a0 Give me a break!\u00a0 Mr. Thatcher wrote the book and I believe that he wrote the book.\u00a0

\n\u201cThis is what he says happened and I believe him:\u00a0 Mr. Thatcher wrote the book from home, drove into Regina, and dropped the manuscript off at my office.\u00a0 He then sped back to his home in Moose Jaw and had Hamburger Helper<\/em> with his family that same night.\u00a0 Anyone could do that and repeat it rather easily without breaking the laws of physics.\u00a0 Case closed.\u201d

\nIf I Did It<\/em> is said to be doing well on the Canadian best seller’s list.\u00a0 In fact, it’s making a killing. <\/p>\n
