{"id":1590,"date":"2011-06-28T21:24:15","date_gmt":"2011-06-29T03:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saskabush.com\/content\/?p=1590"},"modified":"2011-06-28T21:24:15","modified_gmt":"2011-06-29T03:24:15","slug":"toronto-dedicates-alleyway-argonauts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.saskabush.com\/content\/2011\/06\/28\/toronto-dedicates-alleyway-argonauts\/","title":{"rendered":"Toronto Dedicates Alleyway For Little Known Pro Football Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO (SBP) &#8212; After years of playing in virtual anonymity, the Toronto Argonauts received their greatest honour when the city of Toronto finally dedicated an alleyway to the pro football franchise. \u00a0The alleyway, now known as \u201cArgo Alley\u201d backs off of the famous Wayne Gretzky\u2019s restaurant on Blue Jays Way.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you, football team, for your years of bringing joy to a some group of people,\u201d said one of Mayor Rob Ford\u2019s staff has she read from a hand-written dirty napkin, \u201cOn behalf of the city of Toronto, thank you for however many awards you won and may you have continued success in whatever venue and\/or league you play in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dedication ceremony was attended by dozens of fans, many of whom acted like they were lined-up to get into Wayne Gretzky\u2019s Restaurant or the famous Jeff Healy\u2019s Roadhouse just down the street on Blue Jays Way. \u00a0Blue Jays Way is dedicated to the two-time world series champions, the Toronto Blue Jays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay! \u00a0O-kay! \u00a0Blue Jays! \u00a0Blue Jays! \u00a0Let\u2019s! \u00a0Play! \u00a0BALL!\u201d cheered a bystander as she watched the dedication ceremony for North America\u2019s oldest pro football team.<\/p>\n<p>Other fans chimed in to celebrate the dedication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy yes, it would be great to have another thoroughfare named after a local pro sporting team,\u201d said Torontonian Emerson Holiday as he sipped on his Starbucks coffee with his pinkie finger in the air, \u201cWhat did you say the local professional team was?
